About the Workshop

Ever wonder how you can give your plants, fruit trees, vegetables and herbs the nutrient rich soil they need so they can thrive? It all starts with the soil health and your soil needs to be ALIVE! Did you know that in one teaspoon of healthy soil, there are over 6 BILLION living organisms?

This workshop will look at:

  • basic botany and how plants take up nutrients
  • using compost and mulch to create healthy soils

It will also involve practical applications of ph testing ( participants are to bring a soil sample) and a demonstration of making compost tea

About the Presenter

Fiona Blackham – Gaia Permaculture 

Fiona Blackham is an experienced, hands on landscape gardener and Permaculture designer, consultant and educator. She is passionate about providing common sense, environmentally sound design & consulting solutions plus education through workshops, high school VET programs and accredited permaculture courses.

Completing a Diploma of Permaculture in 2014 and now at Murdoch University studying a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science and Environmental Sustainability and Management) she looks forward to sharing this knowledge through her business by providing simple solutions and effective tools to help inspire people to make changes, no matter how small.

Fiona enjoys downtime with her partner and their children and animals, learning to stay on her motorbike, getting time in her garden and binge watching "Outlander" on Netflix.
